Business Management

The Associate of Science in Business Management degree provides students who have already earned a High School diploma or equivalency the opportunity to broaden their business knowledge by attaining an associate degree. The degree is designed to equip students with the knowledge and entry-level skills for employment in the business environment. The program is balanced on a theoretical and practical framework derived from the social, behavioral, managerial, and informational sciences. The program enables students to evaluate general business issues and focuses on problem solving in the workplace in relation to other aspects of the organization, such as employees, customers, suppliers, and society at large.

Graduates of these programs are eligible to sit for the NCCT (National Center for Competency Testing) Certification Examination, Tech in Surgery Certified, TS-C and the NBSTSA (National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting) Certification Examination, Certified Surgical Technologist, CST.

CAD/Drafting Technology

The drafter serves as a vital part of the team that converts ideas and raw materials into a finished product. The Computer Aided Design program offers the student the means to develop the skills needed for entry level employment in the drafting field. Computer drafting and design is one way to produce drawings.

The program introduces 2 dimensional drafting techniques and progresses through 3 dimensional drafting. The program combines computer-aided drafting with technical knowledge so that the drafting graduate will be able to create and modify working drawings on a computer system from information provided by engineers or architects. Drafters are in demand in a wide variety of fields including Electronics Manufacturing, Architectural Design and Construction, Aerospace Engineering, Government, Public Utilities, and Communications. Other Opportunities include areas such as technical sales and supervision. CAD has been one of the most significant engineering developments in recent times and continues to bring about dramatic changes in our technical world.

Computer Networking & Security

Computer networks are an indispensable part of modern day life. They are utilized everywhere; from paying a bill with your home computer, to processing volumes of information on the high-speed networks of today's technology-oriented businesses. This program teaches the skills necessary for graduates to obtain entry-level employment in the growing field of Computer Networking & Security.

Using a closely integrated combination of classroom theory and hands-on lab experience, students are taught the essentials of computer maintenance and repair. In addition, graduates of this program have experience with hardware and software components used by organizations to operate over local and Internet-based networks. These include Linux and Microsoft operating systems and network software, Cisco operating software and equipment, and widely used business application software packages.

The Computer Networking and Security program also emphasizes communication skills (both oral and written) and interpersonal skills that offer our graduates an edge in the competitive business environment of the 21st century. The courses in this program are not certification courses nor are certifications a prerequisite for graduation.

Criminal Justice

The Associate of Applied Science in Criminal Justice Degree provides students who have already earned a High School diploma or equivalency, the opportunity to broaden their knowledge by attaining an associate's degree. The program is designed to equip students academically and professionally by developing a knowledge base, social awareness and technological skills for an entry-level position in today?s criminal justice environment. This program covers an overview of the criminal justice system and provides training in topics such as: Criminal Procedure, Criminal Investigation, Juvenile Delinquency, and Firearms. This program also includes critical courses that cover such topics as Effective Communication, Psychology, and Court Proceedings.

The Associate of Applied Science in Criminal Justice degree provides students with an understanding of criminal justice methods, techniques, technologies and required skills and abilities. Students will learn the conceptual and practical skills needed to enter the workforce. Upon completion of this degree, many graduates will be able to apply for positions as Corrections Officers, Juvenile Detention Officer, Retail Loss Prevention Officer, Court Bailiff and many others.

Dental Assistant

The Dental Assistant Program is designed to prepare students to assist in the organized delivery of dental services. The skills and knowledge presented will support the graduate in the pursuit of a career as an entry-level Dental Assistant. Those skills include fundamental chair-side and administrative skills along with infection control procedures.

The Associate of Science Dental Assistant Degree Program will also prepare the graduate to seek an entry-level Dental Assistant position. In addition, the skills and knowledge learned may provide future opportunities in office management. Emphasis will be in giving the student a solid foundation in areas of healthcare compliance, communication, healthcare ethics, and office supervision.

Electronics Technology

The electronics program integrates classroom theory and hands-on lab experience to provide the student with the necessary skills for entry-level employment within the electronics industry. Students acquire a broad background in electronics, the ability to work on diverse equipment and systems, and the flexibility to adjust as technology evolves. Students acquire a working knowledge of the most common software used in word processing, spreadsheet and presentation applications. The program emphasizes communication skills (both oral and written) and interpersonal skills that give graduates an edge in the competitive business environment and contribute to their career growth and opportunity for advancement. The Electronics graduate will be able to install, troubleshoot, repair and maintain a variety of electronic equipment and systems.

The Associate of Science Degree Program builds upon the Diploma Program and offers expanded technical training in telecommunications and biomedical technology, as well as, skills in the fields of wireless/telecommunications, automation, and biomedical technologies. Graduates of the Associate of Science Degree Program may find expanded long-term career opportunities in management and upward mobility in the workplace.

Electronics is an essential part of our contemporary life. Businesses and other organizations depend on complex electronic equipment for a variety of functions. Industrial controls automatically monitor and direct production processes on the factory floor. Transmitters, antennae, and receivers provide communication links for many radio stations, television stations, and telephone companies.

Electric power companies use electronic equipment to operate and control generating plants, substations, and monitoring equipment. Hospitals use specialized equipment to control all its functions like medical equipment to monitor patients. The future holds new opportunities in the fields of wireless and Fiber Optic technologies, as well as, computer and automation systems for commercial, residential, and manufacturing industry. These complex pieces of electronic equipment are installed, maintained, and repaired by electrical and electronics technicians.

Graphic Design

Graphic Designers command an ever-increasing role in various industries as more and more businesses face the increasing challenges of promoting their business, products and competing with similar products in the marketplace. The graphic design program uses a combination of classroom lecture, hands on training, and real world lab experiences so that students can refine their skills in designing graphic design projects.

Students develop skills in the development of project management, teamwork, problem solving, and interpersonal skills required by employers in the Graphic Design field. Students successfully completing this program receive an Associate of Science Degree.

Upon completion of the Associate of Science Degree Program the graduate will be prepared for entry-level employment within the fields of Publishing, Desktop Publishing, Digital Layout Artist, Package Designer, Digital Photo Manipulator/Image Developer, Illustrator, Graphic Artist, Brand Identity Developer, Logo Designer.

Massage Therapy

The Massage Therapist plays an important role in the growing Health Care fields of preventative health care, fitness, and stress management. Massage Therapy students learn Anatomy, Physiology, and Pathology of the body as it relates to soft tissue injury and treatment. Students engage in supervised ?hands-on? training in traditional Swedish massage and other related modalities such as, hydrotherapy, sports massage, deep tissue, chair massage, reflexology, aromatherapy, lymphatic drainage and spa treatments.

The student is trained in the use of proper body mechanics for their own well-being and injury prevention. In addition, students are taught sanitation procedures, First Aid, and become Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certified. The Massage Therapy student participates in a Supervised Clinic designed to provide experience in a clinic setting, both in practical application of a variety of techniques and practice management. An important part of this Massage Therapy program is the comprehensive study of skills needed to start and operate an independent Massage Therapy business.

Medical Assistant

The Medical Assistant plays an important role as a member of the Health Care team in a physician?s office or clinic. Theory and practical application in the fundamentals of medical diagnostic and laboratory techniques are taught. Medical Assistant students are introduced to the anatomy and physiology of the body systems and become Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certified. In addition, students engage in ?hands-on? training with regard to veni-puncture, injections, urinalysis, electrocardiography, measurement of vital signs, and preparation for physical and specialty exams. Students are taught basic medical office administrative procedures. The graduate is equipped with skills and knowledge necessary to meet the requirements of an entry-level Medical Assistant.

Medical Billing & Coding

The Medical Biller & Coder is trained to work with health-related information and the systems used to collect, process, store, retrieve, and communicate information for the support of operations, management, and decision making with a medical facility or related industry. As computerization of information advances, the Medical Biller & Coder is vital to medical coding, computerized billing and patient care data analysis.

The Medical Billing & Coding program is designed to provide a sound educational environment for instruction and training to equip its graduates for entry-level positions as Medical Billers & Coders.

Paralegal

The legal field has long sought to become more efficient and cost effective. The well-educated paralegal is a valued member of the legal team and part of the solution to the challenges in this professional field. The objective of the Associate of Science degree program in Paralegal is to develop qualified paralegals who have a fundamental understanding of the legal system and are eager to meet the growing needs of the legal field and competent in assisting legal professionals in delivering quality legal services.

The Associate of Science degree program in Paralegal lays a solid foundation of legal framework for the students and exposes them to civil law and litigation, criminal law and adversarial process, family law and property, transactional law, business law, estate planning and probate, administrative law and alternate dispute resolution. Students of this program will also learn to conduct discovery work, gather and organize evidence, do legal research and writing, and use electronic technology to prepare files, store documents, and file them electronically in court. The program also emphasizes career development, professionalism and ethics.

Pharmacy Technician

The entry-level Pharmacy Technician works under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist and a supervising technician. The pharmacy technician will assist in the day-to-day activities of the pharmacy by filling prescriptions, assisting customers, ordering medications, and supporting the pharmacist. They will also be involved with reviewing patient drug allergies, dosing of medications, potential interactions and incompatibilities. A trained Pharmacy Technician can prepare IV, compounded, and/or unit-dose medications. An efficient technician will ensure the location, quality and quantity of all medications stored in the pharmacy. A Pharmacy Technician can participate in drug utilization-evaluation and quality assurance programs. They will consistently review the pharmacy?s inventory of drugs expired, recalled, inadequately labeled, or other non-usable drugs.

The Pharmacy Technician course is designed to provide a sound educational environment for instruction and training to equip its graduates for entry level positions in different pharmacy settings. Pharmacy settings in which an entry level student may work include retail, hospital, mail-order, long-term care and compounding pharmacies

Surgical Technologist

The Surgical Technologist plays a vital role as a member of the Health Care team in the Operating Room (OR). Theory and practical application in the fundamentals of anatomy and physiology of the body systems are taught. Students are introduced to the Operating Room environment engage in ?hands-on? training with regard to sterilization, surgical equipment and supplies, instruments and case set-ups. Students are also taught proper surgical aseptic procedures. Moreover, students practice specific surgical procedures throughout the program of study. This program equips the graduate with skills and knowledge necessary to meet the requirements of an entry-level Surgical Technologist. This program provides the background that enables a student to assume a responsible entry-level position as a member of the Health Care team in a hospital or surgical center. Surgical skills as well as laboratory procedures are taught to meet the requirements of the operating room. Graduates of the program receive a Diploma in preparation for a position as a Surgical Technologist.
