Dover Business College’s program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP). Only graduates of CAAHEP-accredited Medical Assistant programs are eligible to sit for the CMA exam. Dover is one of only seven programs in the state to have this designation.
The Certified Medical Assistant designation (CMA) is a national credential awarded by the American Association of Medical Assistants, indicating that the Medical Assistant meets certain standards of competence. In the State of New Jersey, Medical Assistants who hold the CMA credential are permitted to administer injections.

Our Surgical Processing Technician program will prepare you with the knowledge and skills needed to receive and process supplies and equipment from operating rooms and nursing units throughout the hospital.
Become an Important Part of a Healthcare Team
The Surgical Processing Department, also known as Central Service and Sterile Processing, provides vital support to all areas of patient care, and interacts with personnel from all areas of the hospital. It is the center of all activity involving supplies and equipment needed for surgery and other patient care areas.
The program emphasizes:
- Clinical practicum
- Surgical instrumentation
- Processes for maintaining medical devices that must be decontaminated, processed, sterilized, and distributed in hospitals and surgical centers
Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) Eligibility
Graduates of the Surgical Processing Technician program are eligible to sit for the CRCST examination, as the program meets the requirements of the International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (IAHCSMM) and includes the successful completion of 400 hours of Surgical Processing Clinical Practicum.
The State of New Jersey now requires that Surgical Processing Technicians hold the CRCST designation to work in the field.

A dedicated member of the operating room team, which commonly includes surgeons, anaesthesiologists, and circulating nurses, the Surgical Technologist may perform such tasks as:
- Preparing the operating room for surgery
- Helping with anaesthesia
- Operating sterilizers, lights, or suction machines
- Handling specimens taken for laboratory analysis
- Keeping a written account of the surgical procedure
- Answering the surgeon’s questions about the patient during the procedure, and more
