Accounting Specialist
The Accounting Specialist Program is designed to meet the needs of those students who work in the accounting field or who are presently employed and want to complete additional accounting courses beyond the diploma level. As a student in this program, you’ll prepare for positions such as Accounting Clerks, Accounts Payable/Receivable Specialists, Personal Income Tax Clerks, Collection Clerks, or Professional Bookkeepers. This program amplifies the student’s understanding of the role of accounting in business operations with a special emphasis on combining accounting theory and practice with the microcomputer. Upon graduation and with two years of experience, you will be encouraged to sit for the Certified Bookkeeper (CB) national certification.

The Business Administration program is designed for students who are interested in acquiring the knowledge and skills necessary to perform a variety of administrative functions in the business world. The Bachelor's degree in Business Administration is also beneficial for those in lower-tier management positions and who need the baccalaureate credential to progress in their corporate hierarchy. It has become more and more important for job seekers to have a bachelor's degree to compete for positions or achieve advancement in today's business climate. Now, Virginia College offers students a chance to apply previously earned credit toward completion of a degree.
Criminal Justice
Prepare for or enhance your career in law enforcement on-line or in a traditional classroom setting, in the Criminal Justice program at Virginia College where technology meets law enforcement. Virginia College’s bachelor degree in Criminal Justice is offered online and on campus (or a combination of both) to fit the busy schedules of today’s students. Healthcare Reimbursement
Healthcare Reimbursement focuses on the fundamentals of medical office protocol with specialized training in the areas you will need for a job in this growing field.
As a Virginia College student, you’ll be prepared for entry-level positions in the medical field related to reimbursement procedures. You’ll learn the fundamentals of medical office protocol and get specialized training in Current Procedural Terminology (CPT), International Classification of Diseases (ICD), and Health Care Financing Administration Common Procedural Coding System (HCPCS).
In addition to your classroom experiences, you will also serve an externship for on-the-job training. You’ll be supervised by a physician, nurse, or health services professional and learn the billing and coding process from the working perspective.
Medical Office Administration
Medical Office Administrators perform both administrative and clinical duties, reporting directly to an office manager, physician, or other health practitioner. Students learn to work closely with doctors and other support personnel as well as how to use medical terminology, medical office procedures, and insurance coding to prepare for a career in this growing, specialized field. Cybersecurity
Virginia College's master's degree in Cybersecurity is designed to provide you with an in-depth study in IT Infrastructure Security. You will be exposed to and challenged by the most popular aspects of computer security, including cyber-law, cyber-terrorism, forensics, hardening the operating system, viral activity, and compliancy issues. As a graduate of this program, you will be prepared for employment positions involving the security management of a LAN, WLAN, and WAN environments, including our own nation's informational infrastructure.
As part of this exciting program, you will be presented with various simulations and live lab projects to examine the overall security administration and computer forensics of network security in fields such as information security, network administration, and firewall management. The program provides a strong foundation in cryptography, forensics, intrusion detection, and firewall devices. Additional areas of study include hardening among various operating systems, simulated and real-life experience through VPN connections, and security measures applied to perimeter network devices.
